It is our commitment to laying the foundation for a healthy and active lifestyle from a young age. This program is led by a professional garden educator who is a qualified horticulturalist. We believe by implementing a food garden we can revolutionise the way children think about food and the environment by learning how the food system works, how food is grown, and the value of preparing kindergartens bayswater and sharing healthy food together. In addition to kindergarten at our Children and Family Centres, Knox City Council runs sessional kindergartens at other locations across Knox. Both programs deliver a Government Approved Kindergarten curriculum, led by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and guided by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).
Our teachers and educators work together to observe, document and plan learning experiences that reflect each child’s strengths, interests and developmental goals. Because our Kindergarten Program is integrated within our long day care environment, every interaction throughout the day contributes to your child’s learning journey. At Advance Early Learning Centres, learning doesn’t begin and end during dedicated Kindergarten sessions.
Set in a quiet, tree lined street, KU Mariemont Kindergarten is a warm, welcoming and creative space for children and families. We create a calm, safe and nurturing environment where childhood is celebrated, and each child’s learning is encouraged and supported. First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child.

There is an emphasis on a play-orientated approach to learning, to suit the developmental level of individual children. Every experience is thoughtfully planned to support children’s learning, well-being and development. Above all, our Kindergarten programs aim to instil a lifelong love of learning, where children feel capable, curious, and confident as they take their next steps toward school and beyond. Over the years, Sarabjit has worked in various early childhood settings including long day care and sessional kindergarten, and is passionate about making a positive difference in children’s lives. She believes that each child is unique with individual needs and interests, and that a passionate educator can make a significant difference by focusing on the individuality of each child.
Children can explore expansive outdoor spaces featuring a bike track, sandpit and vegetable garden. These areas give children room to move, ride, dig and grow, with nature-based experiences woven into everyday outdoor play. Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We can also refer to mental health support programs for families if you find yourself in need of assistance. Your child will go on excursions, get involved in the local community and take part in environmental programs to help them become active members of the local community.

If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated. The Australian Government is replacing the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) Activity Test from 5th January 2026, to provide a min. 72 hours per fortnight or 3 days per week of subsidised early childhood education and care (ECEC) for eligible families. Our centre chefs prepare a nutritious menu for your child to sit down and eat. Educators model healthy eating practices, social behaviours and support children’s growing independence with mealtime routines. In our nursery environment, educators focus on building strong, secure and respectful relationships so babies feel safe, settled and supported as they explore the world around them.
Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.
We build meaningful relationships with families by getting to know them and the learning goals they have for their child, incorporating their interests and skills. At St Luke's Primary School, we provide a comprehensive transition program for our ‘new’ Prep students. The children engage in fun activities which build their confidence and friendships, with their teachers and bigger buddies. Students become  very familiar with our school so that they are ready when their school life begins.
